I already wrote a blog post about the Newfoundland launch of my book, but there is something super special that I wanted to mention separately. (For those of you who may have missed that blog post, you can find it here.)
When the event was wrapping up and I was saying my goodbyes to my publishing team, Laurel Keating, the super talent responsible for the amazing artwork in The Secret of Bowring Park (and many other books), showed me the original drawings for TSOBP (as in the actual prints that she sketched).
I was in awe.
Then, she told me to pick one and keep it as a gift.
I was in shock.
What a kind, generous, heart-filled gift! I chose the print that shows Elizabeth and Natalie leaving the park because it reminds me of my two girls.
I can’t say enough how pleased I am with the art that Laurel created for TSOBP. If you’ve flipped through a copy of the book, you already know that it’s filled with such stunning illustrations like the one pictured above. It’s like she went inside my head, scooped out my vision, and transformed it into art (or something more artistic and less violent, perhaps).
I’ll absolutely treasure this original print forever. I really can’t stop looking at it!
