Four years ago, I wrote a story about the Peter Pan statue in Bowring Park, NL.
Three years ago, that story was accepted for publication (under Creative Book Publishing).
Two years ago, I had reworked that story based on my publisher’s and editor’s suggestions.
A year ago, Creative Book Publishing was acquired by Breakwater Books. I was fortunate enough to be one of the authors moving over to Breakwater, but it meant that the original Fall 2017 publication date was bumped to spring 2018.
And today…today, my friends, The Secret of Bowring Park arrived on my doorstep. (Literally—the UPS guy dropped it on my stoop before I’d even arrived to open the door.)
There was one teeny tiny problem though: It arrived at 2pm and I’d promised my family I wouldn’t open the books unless they were all home with me. The ETA for all of us to be in our house was 4:30pm. After all the waiting, I had to wait some more. Torture!
The minutes did eventually tick down and my family did eventually come home, and I finally FINALLY was able to see my book. With my name on the cover! As someone who is used to seeing her name in teeny tiny print on the copyright page, a prime spot on the cover is beyond. And I’m thrilled to share that real estate with the amazingly talented Laurel Keating who created the beautiful illustrations found throughout the book.
All that waiting? Worth it. I don’t think it is possible to be any more giddy with how this book looks. I’m so touched by the care that the entire team at Breakwater Books put into my book. It’s a keeper!
Given the excitement levels, I decided to video the unveiling. Enjoy!
So, it is now out and available for purchase! Amazing. I think I’m still in a bit of shock…the good kind, mind, but, yes, shock.
